Privacy policy

Placeholder. The notes below describe what the app actually does, so counsel has the facts to write from. They are not the policy.

What the app holds

  • Account: name, email, date of birth, role (athlete or parent).
  • For an athlete under 18: a parent or guardian email, and a record of their consent, with the wording shown and the timestamp.
  • Athlete profile: graduation year, positions, bats and throws, up to eleven measurables (each with where and by whom it was measured, and when), which two of them the athlete picked as their top two, a video link, academics as free text the athlete wrote themselves, GPA as short text the athlete typed, intended major, X handle (a username the athlete typed; the app never connects to X), high school, home town, phone, accomplishments, up to three references (another person’s name, role, email and phone, entered by the athlete), and whether the athlete has set themselves as in season.
  • School list, coach names and email addresses, questionnaire links, LaunchPoint’s note on each school for an advisory account, and, for a school the athlete emailed before joining, the date of that email as LaunchPoint loaded it from onboarding.
  • Every email sent through the app, including its full body.
  • Replies received at LaunchPoint reply addresses, including their text.
  • A Google refresh token, if the athlete connects Gmail.

What the app does not hold

  • No test score. GPA is short text the athlete typed (for example 3.6), stored as typed and placed only where an email template or the one-page profile puts it; it is a school record of a minor and is on the counsel list below. Academics is a sentence the athlete wrote.
  • No access to the athlete’s mailbox. The only Google permission requested is permission to send.
  • No record of what happens to an email after it leaves. Nothing about who looked at it is collected, in any form.
  • No uploaded video. Video is a link.

Open questions for counsel

  • Retention after deletion. Requirement 27 deletes everything; the only candidate for keeping is an anonymised consent stub, and only if counsel says it should be kept. It currently defaults to keeping nothing.
  • What COPPA and state student-privacy law require given the 13-to-17 consent flow.
  • GPA (a school record of a minor, held as the athlete’s own short text from 8 Oct 2026), the references (other people’s details entered by a minor) and the accomplishments: what their storage, display on the one-page profile and deletion require.
  • Whether storing a coach’s reply text needs disclosure to the coach, and how.
  • How the Google refresh token must be described, given Google’s Limited Use requirements.
